#APoemADay - Day 14 – HeartQuakes

#APoemADay - Day 14 – HeartQuakes

The heart
Transplanted still carries
The songs and memories
Of it’s former owner
And can imbue
It’s new host with
Strange tastes and desires

Our bodies, not simply
Clumps of flesh
But hardwired with the
Lines of our stories
The furrows of our feelings
Imprinted with the lives
We have led

Our hearts, marking out
The moments of our lives
In beats, pulsing our steps
Through space
Carrying in its chambers
The resonance of our songs
Its valleys rippling
With tremors of emotion
Rivers of blood
Pulsate with the vibrations
Of all that we encounter
In the world

Our earth, not simply
A clump of matter in space
But a living breathing
Sentient presence
Marking time through
Rhythmic tidal turning
In the vastness of space

Earth quakes and rumbles
Our hearts break and tremble
When reminded of the
Tender vulnerability of
The delicate thread
On which every cell of life
Spins out its story
