Identity Division
Driven derision
On all sides
Of political fences
Carves people up
Into petty minded
Point scorers
Whilst the greater
Issues go unaddressed
Unsaid, unacknowledged
The daily toxic downloads
Shouting, mouthing
Satirising, abusing
Excluding, exuding
Choking wordclouds
That hang heavy
Between those who
Were friends and now
Feel alienated, persecuted
Manipulated, segregated
In this polluted city
I endeavour to sing
And to inspire others
To bellow their breaths
With the beauty of song
Yet find myself
Choking on the smog
Honking like a goose
And wishing I could
Cough all of it gone.
